Mega Retail Ltd.
Mega Retail Ltd., a leading Israeli nationwide supermarket chain headed by CEO Zeev Vurembrand, initiated a fundraising drive at their checkout registers in July 2009. The chain's branches between Hadera and Gedera undertook to raise funds for a specific objective: to establish the necessary infrastructure for a National Pediatric Hypertension Follow-Up Center at Schneider Children’s. Cashiers encouraged clientele to make a donation towards this important project.
Following the success of the first drive, the Mega chain organized a second fundraiser, the proceeds of which were dedicated towards the upgrade of the Oncology Day Care Clinic. Bela Rafaelov, a cashier at the Neve Avivim branch, one of the lead fundraising branches, commented: "After a day of raising funds from our clients for a children's hospital, I come home to my own children and thank God for their good health. Nothing touches a mother's heart more than helping sick children. I am truly happy about this good deed. My work takes on another aspect, of aiding the community, and I am grateful that Mega Retail enables us to do that as well."
